Also known as Pom, Toy Pomeranian
A fluffy little spitz who thinks it is a much bigger dog
A miniature of the big northern spitz breeds, the Pomeranian is bold, alert and full of self-confidence. Its plush double coat needs regular brushing, and its tendency to bark at everything is best managed with early training.

This breed needs about 40 minutes of activity a day. Around 2 sitter-led sessions a week keeps that routine going when work or travel gets in the way.

Yes, they are among the more vocal small breeds. Early training, plenty of stimulation and a calm routine reduce it but rarely remove it.
They suit families with older, considerate children. Their small size makes them fragile and they can snap if handled roughly.
Brush several times a week and more during the seasonal moult. A trim of tidy areas is fine, but the coat should never be shaved.
