What is a home stay?

With a home stay, a sitter who has passed an identity check and a background check stays overnight in your home while you are away. Your pet keeps their normal routine, their own bed and their own space, with company through the evening and the night. Agree with the sitter before the stay how long your pet may be alone during the day, how keys are handed over and whether you would like help with things like post or plants.

Each sitter sets their own price, per night, and shows it on their profile.

SEK 149 to SEK 500 per nightbased on 9 sitters

Starting prices set by independent sitters who offer this service right now, before the service fee and VAT. Prices change when sitters update their profiles.

With independent sitters, a 10% service fee is added at checkout, plus 25% VAT on that fee.
When the care is provided by Pet Lounge itself, there is no service fee and 25% VAT is added to the price of the care.
Optional extras are priced by the sitter, and you see the full price, including any fee and VAT, before you confirm.

Once the sitter accepts, chat on Pet Lounge and arrange a meeting so you, your pet and your sitter can get to know each other and go through keys and routines.

Pay through Pet Lounge

Pay either when you send the request or once the sitter has accepted. You see the full price before you confirm, and you never pay the sitter directly.

Stay in touch

Message your sitter on Pet Lounge before and during the booking. Your sitter can share photos and updates while your pet is in their care.

How we check sitters

Protection Fund, not insurance

Bookings paid through Pet Lounge fall under a discretionary fund that may contribute to vet costs after an accident. You pay the first SEK 500, and the fund may pay up to SEK 1,500 per incident.

Payment and cancellation

You pay through Pet Lounge, never directly to the sitter, and the sitter is paid after the booking is completed. How much you get back if you cancel depends on how close to the start you cancel.

How is a home stay different from overnight care?+

A home stay brings the sitter to you: they stay overnight in your home and your pet never leaves its own space. With overnight care it is the other way around, and your pet stays at the sitter's home.

Does the sitter really sleep at my home?+

Yes. A home stay is booked per night, and your sitter stays overnight in your home so your pet has company through the night rather than being left alone.

Will my pet be alone during the day?+

Possibly, as many sitters work or run errands during the day. Agree before you book how long your pet may be left alone and what happens with walks and meals.

Will my sitter look after the house too?+

Only what you agree. Many owners ask for help with things like post, plants or bins, but it is not included by default, so agree it with your sitter before the stay.

How are keys and the handover arranged?+

You and your sitter agree keys, door codes and alarms directly, often at a meeting before the stay. Leave written notes on your pet's routine, your vet's contact details and anything about the home the sitter needs to know.
