Why do so many cat owners prefer home visits to boarding?+

Cats bond with their place at least as strongly as with their people. Moving to a new home means new smells, new sounds, and a territory the cat does not recognise, and it is common for cats to eat less, hide, or change their behaviour during the first days away. With cat sitting everything stays put: the sleeping spot, the litter tray, the food, and the daily rhythm. Your cat only has to get used to a new person, not a whole new home.

How many visits does my cat need?+

It depends entirely on the cat. An independent adult cat usually needs fewer visits than a kitten, a senior cat, or a cat on medication. Describe your cat's day in your care notes and agree the plan with your sitter before you book, so the visits land where they do the most good. You choose a time for each visit individually.

Does the sitter take care of the litter tray?+

Yes. The tray is scooped and topped up on every visit, and it is one of the most important parts of the visit: a dirty tray is a common reason cats start going elsewhere. Tell your sitter where the litter, scoop, and bags are kept so they find everything straight away.

Can the sitter give my cat medication?+

Many sitters are used to tablets, liquid medication, and ointments, and some have experience with cats that need injections. Describe exactly what is given, when, and how your cat usually reacts in your care notes, and confirm with your sitter before the booking starts.

My cat goes outdoors. How does that work?+

Outdoor cats can keep their normal routine if that is what you want, though many owners keep the cat indoors while they are away, since an unsettled cat may stay out longer than usual. Decide what applies before you travel and put it in your care notes, along with the routine for the cat flap or door.

My cat is shy with strangers. Does cat sitting still work?+

Usually yes. A shy cat will hide for the first visits, and an experienced sitter does not force contact - they handle food and the tray calmly and let the cat come out in its own time. Note in your instructions where your cat tends to hide, so the sitter can confirm all is well without startling them.

How does the sitter get into my home?+

Keys, door codes, and alarms are arranged directly between you and your sitter before the first visit, for example at a meetup in your home so your cat can say hello calmly. Chat stays open throughout the booking for the details.
