A small Tibetan sentinel in a long silky coat
The Lhasa Apso was kept in Tibetan homes and monasteries as an alert indoor sentinel. It is bold, self-assured and wary of strangers, and its long coat demands a serious grooming routine.

This breed needs about 40 minutes of activity a day. Around 2 sitter-led sessions a week keeps that routine going when work or travel gets in the way.

Best-matched service
A full coat should be brushed most days and bathed every few weeks. Many owners choose a shorter clip, which is much easier to keep tangle-free.
They tend to do better with older, gentle children. They dislike rough handling and can snap when pushed, so supervise contact with young kids.
They are alert and will bark at unfamiliar sounds and visitors. Early training helps, but expect a watchful little dog in an apartment.
