A tough little fell terrier with a lot of opinions
Bred in the English Lake District to chase foxes from rocky ground, the Lakeland is fearless, lively and full of confidence. Its wiry coat needs hand-stripping or clipping, and its strong prey drive calls for secure fencing and a lead.

This breed needs about 60 minutes of activity a day. Around 3 sitter-led sessions a week keeps that routine going when work or travel gets in the way.

Very little. The wiry coat holds dead hair until it is stripped or brushed out, so regular grooming keeps the home tidy.
It is possible with plenty of daily exercise, but the breed is noisy and energetic. A home with a secure garden suits it better.
They are playful and sturdy, and usually do well with respectful older children. Supervision is wise, as terriers dislike rough handling.
