Also known as Scottish Deerhound
A gentle giant with the heart of a Highland hunter
The Deerhound was bred in the Scottish Highlands to run down red deer, and it remains a tall, rough-coated sighthound. At home it is a soft, dignified companion, but it needs room, secure fencing and careful handling around small animals.

This breed needs about 60 minutes of activity a day. Around 3 sitter-led sessions a week keeps that routine going when work or travel gets in the way.

Best-matched service
Yes, they are gentle and affectionate, and usually calm with respectful children. Their sheer size means supervision around small kids is sensible.
It is not ideal because of the size and the need for space to stretch out. A house with a secure garden suits it much better.
Moderate daily walks are enough, along with occasional chances to gallop in a fenced area. They are lazy indoors after a good outing.
