A bouncy corded herder in a mop of dreadlocks
The Puli is a Hungarian herding dog famous for its corded coat that hangs to the ground. Clever, lively and devoted, it forms a close bond with its family, is wary of strangers and loves to bark and bounce.

This breed needs about 60 minutes of activity a day. Around 3 sitter-led sessions a week keeps that routine going when work or travel gets in the way.

Very little, as loose hair is caught in the cords rather than falling out. The trade-off is a coat that needs regular separating and careful drying.
Cords are formed by hand as the coat grows and must be separated regularly so they do not mat into sheets. Owners often learn from breeders and use a groomer who knows the breed.
They are playful and loyal with their own family, but their herding instinct and noise can overwhelm very young children. Supervision and early socialisation are important.
