A heavy, gentle spaniel with a slow walk and a soft heart
The Clumber is the heaviest of the spaniels, bred to work steadily through thick cover rather than at speed. It is calm, dignified and loyal, but it drools, sheds and needs its weight and eyes watched carefully.

This breed needs about 60 minutes of activity a day. Around 3 sitter-led sessions a week keeps that routine going when work or travel gets in the way.

Many drool, especially around food, water and when relaxed. Loose facial skin also needs regular wiping to stay clean and comfortable.
About an hour a day of steady walking is usually enough. They are not fast, and long strenuous runs are not needed.
Its calm nature helps, but the size, weight and drooling make a house with a garden easier, and stairs can be hard on a heavy dog.
