Also known as Flanders cattle dog, Vlaamse koehond
A shaggy, steady farm guardian with a serious job face
The Bouvier was bred to drive cattle and guard farms in Flanders. It is a calm, watchful and loyal dog that bonds closely with its family, and its dense double coat needs regular brushing and trimming to stay tangle-free.

This breed needs about 90 minutes of activity a day. Around 5 sitter-led sessions a week keeps that routine going when work or travel gets in the way.

Very little, but the coat tangles easily, so it needs regular brushing and trimming rather than shedding control.
A well-socialised Bouvier is patient and protective with family children. Its size and guarding instinct mean interactions with visiting children should always be supervised.
It is not ideal. They are large, need a good amount of daily activity and tend to be wary of noise outside, so a home with some outdoor space suits them better.
