From application to your first payout, you always know where in the process you are.
This goes through each step in more detail than the overview page: what you fill in, what we check, what needs to be in place before owners can see your profile, and how the money finds its way to your account.
Creating an account and a profile is free. We review every application before you can take bookings.
The same five steps as on the overview page, with what actually happens in each one.
You create an account and fill in the sitter application. You tell us about your experience with dogs, where you live, and which services you want to offer.
We go through every application, verify your identity and run a background check through an external partner before approving you. It keeps the standard high for dogs and owners alike.
Add photos, write about yourself, choose your services, and set your prices and availability. Your profile is what owners read before they get in touch.
When an owner reaches out you read the request, ask your questions, and accept if it works for you. Many arrange a meet and greet before the stay begins.
Once the booking is complete, your earnings are paid out to your bank account. Bookings and payouts are all collected in your Pet Lounge account.
A few things are worth knowing before you apply rather than after.
You are an independent service provider to Pet Lounge, not an employee. You are responsible for your own tax and contributions, and you are free to work through other platforms as well.
Bookings, messages and payments are handled through Pet Lounge. Taking payment off the platform is not allowed under the sitter agreement.
If something is unclear or goes wrong during a booking, you contact us and we help you and the owner sort the situation out.
Bookings made through Pet Lounge are covered by our Protection Fund. The fund is not insurance, it does not replace your own liability cover, and it guarantees no payment. What it can contribute to is set out in the sitter agreement.
After you join there are recurring quality checks and meetups for sitters. The sitter agreement sets out what that involves.
The answers depend on how you choose to work, how often, and in what form, so we are not going to give you a quick answer that turns out to be wrong.
It depends on what your activity looks like and how extensive it is. Sitting occasionally for someone nearby is not the same as working professionally. Länsstyrelsen decides what applies to you.
How the income is treated depends on the form you work in and how regular it becomes. Skatteverket is the one that gives the answer, and it is worth reading up before you start charging.
This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Länsstyrelsen and Skatteverket are the ones who decide what applies in your case.
What we hear most often from people about to apply.
We go through every application, verify your identity and run a background check through an external partner. We get back to you once your application has been reviewed. In the meantime you can carry on building your profile, but you can only take bookings once you are approved.
The checklist in your account covers a profile photo, a description of yourself, gallery photos, availability, tax details and an account for payouts. Once everything is ticked off you submit your profile for review. Approval on its own is not enough, your payouts also need to be ready to use before the profile appears in search.
No. Creating an account and a profile is free, and applying does not commit you to anything. Pet Lounge takes a service fee on completed bookings, and the terms are set out in the sitter agreement.
No. You add the times you are available and accept only the requests that suit you. Nobody assigns you shifts, you set the price for each service you offer, and you can pause your profile whenever you need a break.
Fill in the application when you have a quiet moment and we will get back to you once we have reviewed it. Applying does not commit you to anything.
