DogI have been around dogs since childhood, as my family always had dogs of different sizes. From an early age, I believed dogs should be a natural and close part of everyday family life, and should be treated as family members, which strongly influences how I care for dogs today. Seven years ago, I adopted my own dog from a shelter. She is now an 8-year-old, medium-sized mixed breed (Border Collie–Schnauzer): energetic, playful, and very social with both people and other dogs. Living with her has given me daily, hands-on experience with an intelligent, active dog that needs structure, exercise, and engagement. I am comfortable caring for dogs older than one year, up to senior dogs. I frequently take care of dogs with disabilities, such as blind or deaf dogs. I have experience giving oral medication, have cared for a dog recovering from a broken leg. If a dog requires other types of medication, I am open to learning and following the owner’s instructions carefully. I am also comfortable with dogs that need attentive, structured walks, as I am used to staying aware of my surroundings during walks. I use positive reinforcement and have experience with basic obedience, leash manners, and maintaining consistent routines. I currently accept one guest dog at a time to ensure individual attention, safety, and a calm, predictable environment. For safety and comfort, I require a meet-and-greet before longer boarding stays, including an introduction to my own dog. Whenever possible, a short doggy day care stay is then preferred to confirm compatibility before finalizing extended boarding.
